The Next-Generation 3U VPX Module for High-Performance Embedded Computing with FMC+ Mezzanine Site

Eden Prairie, MN – December 9, 2025 – New Wave Design today, in alignment with the kickoff of the Association of Old Crows (AOC) 2025 International Symposium & Convention, announced the launch of the V6068, a high- performance, heterogeneous embedded computing 3U VPX module featuring the AMD Versal® Premium Adaptive System-on-Chip (SoC) and VITA 57 FMC+ mezzanine site. Designed for the most demanding sensor interface, signals intelligence (SIGINT), electronic warfare (EW), and data processing applications, the V6068 sets a new benchmark for bandwidth and processing density in a compact form factor.

The V6068 is engineered to address the critical needs of High-Performance Embedded Computing (HPEC) systems, offering a unique combination of hardware resources: hard ARM processor cores, a massive FPGA fabric, and rugged, high- speed optical and electrical I/O.

Unprecedented Bandwidth and Performance

The module is built around the Versal® Premium VP1502 or VP1702 Adaptive SoC, providing unparalleled processing capabilities. Key features driving its performance include:

  • Massive I/O: The V6068 provides up to twelve (12) full-duplex optical port supporting speeds from 1G to 25G per lane, configurable via front panel MPO or VITA 66 backplane I/O. This translates to 300G aggregate optical interface in a single 3U VPX slot, enabling rapid data ingest and distribution.
  • Heterogeneous Processing: The architecture seamlessly integrates programmable logic (FPGA fabric) with hard silicon for PCIe Gen3/Gen4 controllers, DMA engines, and secure MACSEC Ethernet interfaces, allowing host CPUs and GPUs to be unburdened from data interface overhead.
  • Customization and Longevity: The inclusion of a VITA 57 FMC+ site offers critical flexibility for customization, such as adding RF capability, and supports future upgrades to increase performance or add new functionalities long into the product’s life cycle.

Alignment with Open Standards

The V6068 is designed with Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA)-aligned profile options and maintains compliance with key industry standards, including
VITA 57 (FMC+), VITA 47, and VITA 66.5. This commitment to open standards ensures seamless integration, reduced integration risk, and enhanced system longevity for defense and aerospace programs.
