ECRIN Systems Decarbonization Plan

1- ECRIN Systems' commitment

A French company specializing in the design and development of rugged servers and industrial IT systems, ECRIN Systems bases its industrial performance on a responsible and sustainable approach.

At the end of 2024, ECRIN Systems carried out its first comprehensive carbon assessment as part of the Diag Décarbon'action program led by Bpifrance, in partnership with ADEME and the Association pour la transition Bas Carbone (Association for Low Carbon Transition).
Operational support was provided by the company Sami.

This approach marks a defining step:
👉 Measure to understand
👉 Understand to act
👉 Act to transform our model sustainably

2. Our carbon footprint: understanding our impact

What is a carbon footprint?

A carbon footprint measures all greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by an organization over a given period. These emissions are expressed in CO₂ equivalents (CO₂e).

The three scopes analyzed

Scope 1: direct emissions (fuel, vehicles, internal sources)
Scope 2: indirect emissions related to purchased energy (electricity, heating)
Scope 3: other indirect emissions (purchases, transportation, travel, product use, end of life)

👉 As with most industrial companies, Scope 3 accounts for the majority of ECRIN Systems' emissions.

2023 results

3. Results

Total carbon footprint: 3,944 tCO₂e

The main sources of emissions identified:

  1. Inputs (purchases of raw materials and components): Emissions linked to the extraction, processing, and manufacturing of electronic and mechanical components.
  2. Use of products sold: Energy consumption of equipment over its lifetime.
  3. Transportation of goods
  4. Business travel

This assessment highlights a major strategic lever:

🎯 Take action starting with product design and throughout the supply chain.

4. Our climate goal

ECRIN Systems is committed to a concrete and measurable goal:

•    4% reduction in GHG emissions in 5 years
•    An average reduction of 1% per year
•    From 3,944 tCO₂e (2023) to 3,848 tCO₂e by 2030

This goal is the first step on a path of continuous progress.

5. Our structured decarbonization plan

The plan is based on two strategic pillars:

1.    Reducing the footprint of our products
2.    Reducing the footprint of our internal operations

PILLAR 1: Taking action on our products and value chain

  1. eco-design

5.1 Integrating eco-design into the core of product DNA

ECRIN Systems is committing its R&D teams to a structured eco-design approach:

    • Training for technical teams
    • Integration of environmental criteria from the design phase onwards
    • Reduction of impacts related to:
      • materials
      • energy consumption
      • equipment lifespan
      • repairability and scalability

👉 Conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) on strategic products to identify priority areas for improvement.

     — a robust server designed to operate in demanding environments while offering a long service life and upgrade options to reduce environmental impact.

  2. Supplier responsible

5.2 Structuring a responsible purchasing policy

As purchasing accounts for a significant portion of Scope 3 emissions, ECRIN Systems is implementing:

    • A responsible supplier charter
    • The integration of environmental criteria into supplier selection
    • Awareness-raising among strategic partners
    • Enhanced collaboration to reduce upstream emissions

    Objective:
👉 Reduce the carbon footprint starting with the supply chain.

  3. Ecologic freight

    5.3 Optimizing freight transport

ECRIN Systems favors maritime transport whenever possible:

    • Maritime freight accounts for approximately 3% of global emissions.
    • Per ton transported:
      • Air freight emits ~10 times more than road freight.
      • Road freight emits ~10 times more than maritime freight.

    Concrete action:
✔ Systematic preference for maritime transport when deadlines allow.
✔ Optimization of volumes and consolidation of shipments.

  4. recycling

5.4 Reduction and recovery of materials

    • Reuse of raw material scraps in new production cycles.
    • Optimization of cutting and procurement.
    • Reduction of industrial waste.

PILLAR 2 — Reducing the environmental impact of our operations

  1. Ecological building

    5.5 Energy performance of buildings

ECRIN Systems invests in the continuous improvement of its infrastructure:

    • Building extension with new-generation insulation
    • Heating system incorporating solar panels
    • Installation of:
      • smart thermostats
      • motion detectors
      • low-energy equipment

    Objective:
👉 To achieve a sustainable reduction in energy consumption (Scope 1 & 2).

  2. Green vehicule

    5.6 Sustainable mobility

    Gradual electrification of the fleet

    ECRIN Systems aims to:

    • Have a fleet of 100% hybrid or electric vehicles
    • Reduce emissions linked to business travel

    Development of teleworking

    • Up to 6 days per month for employees who volunteer
    • Reduction in commuting
    • Improvement in quality of life at work

6. Governance and monitoring

To ensure the plan's effectiveness:

  • Regular updates of the carbon footprint
  • Annual monitoring of key indicators
  • Involvement of senior management
  • Ongoing awareness-raising among teams

Decarbonization is thus becoming a key pillar of the company's strategy.

7. Our vision

The environmental transition is not a constraint for ECRIN Systems.
It is:

✔ A driver of innovation
✔ A differentiating factor
✔ An industrial responsibility
✔ A commitment to our customers and partners

ECRIN Systems affirms its desire to combine technological excellence and environmental performance by placing decarbonization at the heart of its long-term strategy.
