- 4 independent video-decoder channels
- 4 digital HDMI/DVI outputs
- Full HD 1920 × 1080 at 60 FPS
- H.264, VC-1, MPEG-4, VP8 and additional formats
- Compressed video transported over PCIe x4 and/or Gigabit Ethernet
The AMC352 expands the VadaTech embedded-computing portfolio with a dedicated video-decoding function for MicroTCA and AdvancedMC systems.
The module integrates a multichannel video engine with four digital HDMI/DVI outputs.
Each channel supports resolutions up to Full HD 1920 × 1080 at 60 frames per second, allowing four video-display functions to be integrated into a single compact AMC module.
This density is particularly useful in Information & Communication Systems combining video reception, processing, distribution and display within a modular platform.
The front panel provides four mini-HDMI connectors for decoded video output.
Each decoder channel supports 1920 × 1080 resolution at 60 FPS.
The AMC352 therefore provides multiple digital-display outputs within a single AdvancedMC slot, reducing the need for separate decoder modules.
Typical functions can include multi-display video, surveillance, monitoring and distributed video visualization within MicroTCA systems.
The video engine supports a broad range of compressed-video formats, including:
This allows the AMC352 to handle streams generated by different generations of video systems and compression formats.
The decoder engine includes error detection, concealment and error-resilience functions.
Flexible Macroblock Ordering – FMO and Arbitrary Slice Ordering – ASO are supported for applicable H.264 streams.
VC-1 profile functionality and dynamic resolution changes without decoder scaling are also supported.
These capabilities are useful in video-distribution and transmission platforms where compressed streams may be exposed to transmission errors or changing source characteristics.
Compressed-video data can be supplied to the decoder through PCI Express, Gigabit Ethernet or both.
Three interface configurations are available:
| Configuration | Data interface |
|---|---|
| Option 0 | PCIe + Gigabit Ethernet |
| Option 1 | PCIe only |
| Option 2 | Gigabit Ethernet only |
The PCI Express interface operates as x4.
Gigabit Ethernet connectivity is provided through AMC Ports 0 and 1.
This allows the AMC352 to be adapted to either PCIe fabric-based video transport or Ethernet-based distribution within the host platform.
The AMC352 complies with:
The standard module uses a single-module mid-size AMC form factor, with a full-size front-panel option.
Board dimensions are 73.5 × 180.6 mm.
This modular format makes it possible to combine video decoders, processors, FPGA modules, data-acquisition cards and network interfaces within the same MicroTCA system.
For complete embedded platforms, the AMC352 can form part of an ECRIN Systems COTS and Modified COTS solution.
Five front-panel RS-232 interfaces on micro-USB connectors are provided:
Front-panel LEDs provide module-management and channel-status indications.
The AMC352 also supports IPMI v2.0 module management and incorporates a hot-swap ejector handle.
Software support includes Linux and Windows.
This allows the module to be integrated into a range of host environments for video decoding, monitoring and distribution applications.
Published AMC352 power consumption is 9 W.
This relatively low board-level figure is useful when multiple video modules are integrated within the same MicroTCA chassis, although complete thermal design still needs to account for all system modules.
Commercial, industrial and extended environmental configurations are available.
Extended versions use conduction cooling and can be specified with Humiseal 1A33 polyurethane or Humiseal 1B31 acrylic conformal coating depending on configuration.
Storage temperature is -40°C to +85°C.
Published environmental characteristics also include:
These options allow the AMC352 to be integrated into different embedded-system environments, including selected Defense, Aerospace & Security applications requiring embedded video processing.
The AMC352 provides the video decoding and display-output stage.
A complete platform can also combine video encoders, processors, FPGA modules, Ethernet switching, MicroTCA chassis and display systems.
ECRIN Systems can integrate these building blocks through its production and system-integration capabilities, addressing chassis selection, PCIe/Ethernet fabrics, cooling and external interfaces as one complete system.
With four Full HD decoders, four HDMI/DVI outputs and a choice of PCIe or Gigabit Ethernet transport, the AMC352 concentrates multichannel video decoding within a single AdvancedMC module.
Complete system performance then depends on the rest of the chain: stream sources, PCIe or Ethernet bandwidth, MicroTCA chassis, encoding modules, processing resources, displays and thermal constraints.
ECRIN Systems can define the complete platform around the AMC352 and combine the decoder with the additional AMC modules required by the application.
